In winter, you have the opportunity to spend fantastic days on the slopes in the nearby Kranzberg family ski area and in the Alpenwelt Karwendel. Beginners can learn the art of skiing at one of the local ski schools. There is also a ski kindergarten on site where our little ones are well looked after.
Well-maintained cross-country ski trails, curling, cleared winter hiking trails and horse-drawn sleigh rides round off the wide range of winter activities on offer. For the most active among you, there is also the option of exploring what the Olympiaregion Seefeld and Garmisch-Partenkirchen have to offer in less than half an hour.
If you're more on the action-packed side, then you'll love our snowkiting special. Let the wind carry you through the snowy landscape on skis or snowboard - an indescribable feeling! Courses are offered regularly in Wallgau and Garmisch-Partenkirchen. After a long day of activity, it is very relaxing to soothe your muscles and body & mind in our in-house infrared cabin. In the Gröbl-Alm wellness oasis you can also recharge your batteries in the sauna, especially in winter.
Cross-country skiing around Mittenwald
The Alpenwelt Karwendel is a true cross-country skiing paradise. At around 900 meters above sea level, cross-country skiing in Bavaria is pretty snow-sure. The villages of Mittenwald, Wallgau and Krün are surrounded by a 150 km network of cross-country ski trails, making for an extremely varied cross-country skiing vacation.
Whether classic cross-country skiing or skating, everyone will get their money's worth here. The cross-country ski trail has been awarded a prize by the German Ski Association, and recently we also have the "Magdalena Neuner Trail", which was recently dedicated to the Olympic champion. Night trails and circuits provide plenty of excitement and entertainment. There are also cafés and huts along the way where you can end your tour in comfort.

The Gröbl-Alm is an ideal starting point for winter hiking in Bavaria. In addition to the perfectly groomed hiking trails, which draw gentle lines into the magical and idyllic snow-covered winter landscape, there are also various other options for hikes in Mittenwald. Snow-covered mogul meadows or frozen lakes, walks high up at the mountain station, here in Alpenwelt Karwendel you are spoiled for choice. As in summer, you also have the option of being accompanied by a hiking guide in winter.
